So Much To Say

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve started to write here, and decided against it.

What’s going on the the US is  so extreme I’m scared to death and don’t know what to say.

The only thing that I can offer is the thought that an election was held in a democratic country, someone won that election based on how elections have been decided since forever and a lot of people are unwilling to accept the results, even though around the same number of people voted for that result.

I’m heading to the US for an extended weekend but I have to tell you, it’s unnerving. Y’all are moving dangerously close to a civil war.  And if that happens, everybody loses.

People on the left, Democrats,  ‘progressives’, grow the fuck up.  You had the last 8 years and now it’s their turn.   And people on the right, don’t make things worse than they already are.

You’ve all got so much to lose.

  1. So much to say…

Alright I am from the US and I would say to both sides “grow up” and remember you are Americans first and foremost, not a republican or democrat or conservative or liberal. Free elections were held get over it, now determine how to come together, live together, and move forward together in a democracy.

  2. hi Seleena,
I sent you a message on fb but not sure if you read them there. Anyway I can’t tell you how much this bothers me too… as a conservative with many liberal friends (including my girlfriend), the intolerance shown by the left is disturbing. This is the same group that just a few years ago were soooo complaining about the left being so intolerant. I have great discussions with my liberal friends and I try to focus them on what we do agree on.
Turns out there is a lot there. Let’s just let people be people, ok?

Keep up the great work, beautiful!

    1. Thanks for commenting Woody.

Though it seems difficult to see from up here, I can only imagine what it’s like living in it. I just hope there continues to be something in agreement to focus on.

Just wish I knew the end game .. both with left-right tensions and with the religious thing.

  3. The comment by JamieH pretty much summed it up “remember you are Americans first and foremost,”

The same things apply in our country…as I read about how Ontario is screwing Alberta…how Quebec is getting screwed by every one else…etc, etc…hell…it’s as though in North America the thought of “country” is being replaced with a concept of individual Provincial ( or in the US, state) power at the expense of a national identity and national benefit.

Canadians too are seeing a tremendous upswing in the vocal divide between Left & Right points of view and unfortunately the Centre point of view is becoming looked upon as being a weak kneed approach.

While individual thought is a cornerstone of both nations we have to understand it is a cornerstone…not the entire structure…along with individual thought has to come the comprehension of “collective good”

  4. Well said, Theadora! I had never considered your last two points but find them very true and relevant.

The centre point of view really is considered weak-kneed, and yes, feelings of “collective good” has been lost.

It really feels as though those who want to destroy western culture have found a way to successfully destroy it from within.

    Thanks for your thoughts!

    1. She’s a wise one Jaime! lol .. as are you.

I think the inclusion of collective good is important. After we all breathe our last breath, someone might talk about what we did (or tried to do) for “the collective” .. likely not about all the self-serving stuff we did.
